okay this is overdue by 15 days but. I FINALLY CAUGHT TITANIC! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE (i'm a noob i know)! :D never thought i would be able to catch it in theatres but i did! in 3D, no less. but i think because the film was not originally made to be 3D so some parts appeared a little weird, such as if there's an arm in the foreground of the shot it looks out of place. but to quote my wonderful cuzzie whom i caught the film with, "the 3d made leonardo dicaprio (okay maybe only his younger, more charming self) totally irresistible" :D and i found the 3D plankton flying towards me extremely amusing and exciting :3
before the film started i went upstairs to look for qxjj. she told me she was buying a hot dog and so i was looking straight at the food counter when this voice beside me suddenly squeaked, "i love your shoes!" and frightened me lol! i thought she was just some random person hehe. then we emptied our bladders and collected our 3D glasses. and as we walked towards the theatre i put them on and said "i wonder if this works here", then qxjj reminded me that "the world is already in 3D" LOL OOPS!
the film itself was really, really great! not that it's perfect- i'm pretty sure people in the 1920s don't say "slut", and the number of times jack repeated "give me your hand" was a bit..- but it was breathtaking all the same. it's a visual spectacle, and perhaps precisely because of the grandeur, the beauty and splendour evoked in the first half of the film, along with the hopes and dreams embodied by the gigantic ship on its maiden journey, the sinking scenes were all the more poignant. i also love how the film brought out very personal sides of the tragedy. and i was really touched by the string quartet playing all the way till the end. it was heart-wrenching but the music became an escape in a way, a refuge from the chaos and fear as the ship kept sinking. i was so busy watching/ crying that i didn't even use that much tissue! after the credits rolled qxjj and i simultaneously said "cannot take off the 3D glasses, puffy eyes will show" ahaha :3
and now i know what trish meant when she said you'll think "my heart will go on" is a great song, but after watching titanic you'll realise it's perfect! overall, i was really glad i caught it (it was one of the last few showings!) and it was worth every bit of my $11 (:
